Six ice cream and dessert shops inside Savannah city limits: Broughton Street, River Street, City Market, MLK Jr. Boulevard and Starland.

Last checked Oct. 6, 2026. Refreshed every three months.

Savannah’s ice cream and dessert shops are almost all downtown: on Broughton Street, on River Street and in City Market, with a dessert bar on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Leopold’s also has a shop in the Starland District on Bull Street.

How we made this list. The places come from OpenStreetMap records inside Savannah’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 6, 2026. OpenStreetMap had few dessert shops tagged in the city, so we added Leopold’s Ice Cream, River Street Sweets and Savannah’s Candy Kitchen from their own sites, and we checked every address against the U.S. Census Bureau’s geocoder. Leopold’s shops at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport and on Whitemarsh Island, and Lulu’s Chocolate Bar’s Whitemarsh location, are not on this list: the airport shops sit inside the terminal, and Whitemarsh Island is outside the city line. The list is alphabetical. It is not a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on it. Run one of these places? Write to us to correct your entry.

The places

Leopold’s Ice Cream has made ice cream in Savannah since 1919, according to its site. The flagship parlor is on East Broughton Street near Abercorn Street, next to the vertical SCAD sign; the Starland District shop is on Bull Street. Its site posts a fountain menu and a flavor list, and the company also ships nationwide.

Lulu’s Chocolate Bar calls itself a dessert bar and says it began when a baker and a bartender, the friends Rebecca Radovich and Janine Finn, opened their own place. It serves desserts such as cheesecakes and brownies alongside dessert cocktails and coffee, and it opens in the afternoon or evening and stays open late.

River Street Sweets calls itself Savannah’s original candy store, open since 1973. It sells pralines and Southern candy and lists in-store ice cream flavors. Its store page does not post hours; the phone number on its site is the company’s toll-free line.

Savannah’s Candy Kitchen has two shops downtown, on River Street and in City Market on West St. Julian Street. Its site sells pralines, gophers, divinity, caramel apples, cakes and pies, and lists 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. hours at both shops.

Related lists: wings, pizza, Mexican and Tex-Mex, barbecue, breakfast and coffee, burgers, sushi and Asian, bakeries, patios and outdoor dining and every list by category. Also: brunch, date night, the business directory and restaurant inspection scores.
