What it is

The festival was founded in 1989 and is run by a nonprofit, its about page says. It has featured thousands of artists from around the world. In the 2026 season it drew more than 15,000 patrons and generated $7.21 million in direct and visitor spending, and its free education programs added nearly 35,000 learning hours, the festival’s 2026 figures show. The 2026 festival closed April 5.

The mix is the draw. “In just one day, you can experience classical, jazz and world music,” Gramophone wrote in a review the festival quotes on its home page. The festival also runs the Savannah Music Festival Jazz Academy and the Musical Explorers school program year-round.

The festival does not publish its own parking plan. The city’s Mobility and Parking Services department runs the city garages and answers questions at 912-651-6470. The festival falls in azalea season, so leave extra time to park.
