What happened in 2026
The 2026 celebration, on Saturday, July 4, marked the nation’s 250th birthday. Savannah’s Waterfront spread it across four waterfront locations and timed the fireworks to patriotic music for all four, according to its event page and its thank-you post.
The schedule at Rousakis Riverfront Plaza on River Street:
| Time | What |
|---|---|
| 5 to 5:45 p.m. | Check-in for the Most Patriotically Dressed Contest |
| 6 p.m. | Most Patriotically Dressed Contest |
| 6:45 p.m. | Presentation of colors by the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia color guard; national anthem |
| 7 p.m. | 3rd Infantry Division Brass Band from Fort Stewart |
| 8 p.m. | 3rd Infantry Division Rock Band |
| 9:30 p.m. | Fireworks |
The other three viewing spots ran their own events:
- Savannah Convention Center, Hutchinson Island: DJ music and picnic-style fun, from the convention center.
- Plant Riverside District: rooftop parties and live music, from Plant Riverside.
- The Park at Eastern Wharf: big band music from The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra, from Eastern Wharf.
Savannah’s Waterfront says the Most Patriotically Dressed Contest will become an annual tradition.
